A boiler has been installed in the shelter of Son Amer with a power 150 kW as a pilot test with very positive results, as explained by an official source of the Consell de Mallorca. Propane gas will no longer be consumed and plant remains from the silvicultural treatment of the forest masses themselves will be used to reduce vegetable fuel and reduce the risk of fires and forest pests. The Councilor for the Environment, Sandra Espeja, stressed "the importance of taking advantage of all our own resources to change the current parameters and move towards a circular economy".

Mallorca has been exporting sliver from the surplus wood to use as fuel in power generation plants. Italy has acquired them for a few years until at the beginning of this it stopped doing it. In total, and throughout the past year, four ships were charted for Italy. Josep Oliver, a logging entrepreneur, says: "It is because the Italian government has stopped subsidizing the import of wood for these plants, Italy had a shortage of wood for fuel and it was cheaper to buy our crushed than to consume its own wood. However, the situation there has been normalized and here we will have to find an outlet for all this by-product of our activity ".
