MITECO allocates 33,66 million to promote 57 BIOMASS projects with a total power of 435 MW of power

selected projects

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has selected 57 innovative biomass projects that accumulate 435 MW of power to produce thermal energy in 8 autonomous communities, which will receive public aid worth 33.666.035 euros.

Projects in all economic sectors

The substitution of equipment with fossil fuels for biomass boilers has been relevant in industries in the olive sector such as COOSUR, MIGASA, EL TEJAR, LAMARCA, AGOLIVES and in the beer sector such as ESTRELLA GALICIA or L. PERNIA.

Also noteworthy are the investments in new biomass facilities in industries in the dairy sector such as CAÑADA REAL, canneries such as AGRICONSA, meat industries such as GRUPO COOPERATIVO ARCOIRIS and the firm BOADAS1880, among others.

The wood sector will also have new and innovative biomass facilities in companies such as TOLE CATALANA, EMISSION 0 or AMATEX.

Biomass will also have the support of MITECO to feed new heat and/or cold networks in public and residential buildings in cities such as León, Burgos, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Palencia, Medina del Campo (VA), Ponferrada (LE), Béjar (SA), Navaluenga (ÁV), Huesca, Lugo, or smaller municipalities such as Palau-solità i Plegamans, Torrefarrera and Sant Pere de Torelló, in Catalonia.

These projects will receive funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aimed at strengthening economic and social cohesion in the European Union and correcting its imbalances, after the publication of the final resolutions by the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), related to the thermal and electrical renewable investment aid lines.
