Stora Enso, a leading supplier of renewable products to the pulp and paper industry, has announced a major multi-billion euro investment to convert an idle paper machine into its oulu plant in Finland on a consumer carton production line. As part of the investment, Laitex will design and implement a biofuel receiving station brand new and associated transporters.
Laitex, a Finnish company specializing in material handling solutions, will supply Oulu Mill with a fuel receiving system for side dump trucks, an automatic sampling system, conveyor belts to open the fuel yard and boiler, a stacker for biomass and a screw recuperator under the fuel yard storage pile. The material to be handled is mainly wood chips and bark.
In addition to the supply of equipment, Laitex will also be responsible for the assembly and commissioning of a new truck reception building with a dust removal system, equipment instrumentation and piping. The installation phase is scheduled to start in fall 2023 and commissioning is scheduled for June 2024.
This project is a great example of how companies can, but also need to, collaborate to create sustainable solutions in the pulp and paper industry. With Laitex's material handling solution, Stora Enso will be able to receive a higher volume of trucks, including new types, and store more biomass in the fuel depot.
"This is an important project in our green transition growth strategy and we are honored to have been selected for be part of Stora's investment project Enso at the Oulu plant. This opportunity allows us to demonstrate our expertise in providing outstanding Finnish technology solutions and our commitment to deliver sustainable and innovative solutions to our customers." comments the CEO of Laitex, Lasse Kurronen.
