Promotion of Bioenergy granted to CEDER

Avebiom awards the award 'Fosters the 2018 Bioenergy' to the Ceder-Ciemat de Soria.

The jury highlighted the activity carried out by the center in the field of "research and development of biomass for energy use; a field in which 32 has been carrying out research projects for years to serve the Spanish industry ".

The Spanish Association of Energy Valorization of Biomass (Avebiom) has awarded the prize 'Foster 2018 Bioenergy' al Renewable Energy Development Center (Ceder) de Soria, assigned to the Department of Energy of the Ciemat (Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

The jury evaluated the activity carried out by Ceder-Ciemat, focused "on the research and development of biomass for energy use, a field in which 32 has been carrying out projects to provide service to the Spanish industry".

In this period, it has developed a hundred initiatives related to aspects that range from the quantification and production of the resource, to its use of energy using the most innovative technologies.

In the opinion of the jury, it can be said that Ceder-Ciemat, considered a pioneer in Spain in the field of energy use of biomass, "has contributed to the concept of biofuel has entered our colloquial language as a reliable source of energy and mature. "

Avebiom will present the award to Ceder-Ciemat within the framework of the 'Bioenergy Congress' to be held in Cuenca on 12 and 13 days in December.

The jury also highlighted the relevance of some projects in which Ceder-Ciemat has participated, which have made it possible to put "tools of free access" at the service of society, such as 'Bioraise', for the evaluation of biomass resources, that allows us to know the potential of the biomass of our environment. And also, its participation in other projects, such as the creation of the Biomasud quality label and the development of characterization standards in national and international standardization committees.

Ceder-Ciemat, which has a staff of 40 professionals, has leading teams and pioneers in Spain to study the entire value chain of agricultural, forestry and energy crops biomass, in addition to a laboratory specializing in solid fuels, which analyzes more than a thousand samples a year and works on projects that are at the forefront of research, such as the study of corrosion caused by ash from biomass.
