Trelleborg will use biomass for more efficient and less polluting tire production

Trelleborg switches to biomass

The Swedish company, Trelleborg Wheel Systems has announced that it will completely redesign the manufacturing process of its tires solid. The company will do it through the introduction of an advanced biomass boiler.

Steam production is essential for the tire curing process. It is traditionally carried out in an oil boiler, which is responsible for the 11.000 tons of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere and affect the Climate Change and consumption of 3,5 million liters of oil consumption.

The current technology, with the new biomass boiler also will improve the efficiency of the transformation costs, reducing the impact of the fluctuation of the raw material for customers and maintaining the competitiveness of the product in the market.

The supply of biomass will be met in a sustainable manner by local producers.
