Pellet factories The map of Spain, updated every year by AVEBIOM, collects 82 pellet factories, one less than last year. Bioenergy startup Futerra Torrefaçao e Tecnologia SA revealed that it has begun construction of its first commercial scale torrefied pellet production plant in Valongo, Portugal. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 120.000 tons of torrefied pellets and 55.000 tons of industrial wood pellets. Serra is one of the towns of the Valencian Community, with a clear vocation to be energy self-sufficient. A few years ago they started a local project to use bioenergy. They convert garden, agricultural and forestry waste (mainly from fire prevention work) into biofuel suitable for local uses.
