Renewable gas

At present, there is a clear political commitment in Spain for these technologies that had not been manifested to date.

Following in the footsteps of France, which has set the goal of a network with 100% renewable gas in 2050, Spain is already working to define a stable framework to make biomethane development a reality, as required by the European Green Pact , the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan and the draft Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition.

In Spain, with just over 200 biogas plants and 5 biomethane plants in operation, it has a long way to go to achieve its goals.

Alpha Cleantec has developed a proprietary technology for the partial chemical oxidation and pretreatment of municipal sludge. The process increases soluble COD levels before the anaerobic digestion processor by up to 100%. This technology increases biogas production by up to 50%, unlocking an additional revenue stream and turning wastewater plants into independent, off-grid heat and electricity units.
In addition to the Innovation Award given to Sugimat, ÖkoFEN's ZeroFlame technology and Palazzetti's total pellet combustion system will receive second prize. In this call, and for the first time, the Innovation Award in the field of renewable gases is awarded.
OPS are zerovalent iron nanoparticles encapsulated in a matrix of carbon, green energy and digestate that can be converted to fertilizer, organic amendment and / or compost. Thanks to this process, polyphenols are reduced, making it possible to generate biogas from exclusively vegetable water and alperujo as sole substrates.
Spain managed to reduce its CO6,2 emissions by 2% in 2019. That is what the Advance of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, published by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge at the beginning of summer, indicated. The final data will be produced throughout this fall, this figure supports the viability of using non-fossil energy sources.
At the 2020 European Biogas Conference, the great potential of biomethane was evidenced, providing renewable energy and helping rural development, in line with the European Green Pact. In statements by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen: "For climate neutrality in 2050 we need a 100% renewable gas supply based on green gases, such as biomethane and hydrogen."
The first meeting on the Iberian Peninsula exclusively for professionals in the sector related to renewable gas will be held in Valladolid, on September 21, 22 and 23, 2021.
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), has approved the first calls for aid from the package to finance innovative projects of renewable technologies. More than 181 million euros will be allocated to support initiatives in seven regions of Spain:
