What are wooden PELLETS?

expobiomasa pellets

Pellets are the most elaborate natural biofuel. They are small cylinders of 6 to 8 millimeters in diameter and 1 to 4 centimeters in length that are obtained by pressing wood sawdust. Thanks to lignin, a natural component of wood that acts as glue, it is possible to form small cylinders without using any additives.

A RENEWABLE ENERGY OF NATURAL ORIGIN

100% of the pellets come from wood that grows in our forests naturally, and contributes directly to reducing the risk of forest fires.

100% of the certified pellet used in Spain comes from forests that are managed in a sustainable way, guaranteeing the growth of new trees in the place of the trees used.

ENERGY GUARANTEED IN THE LONG TERM

Only 15% of the wood that is extracted in our country is converted into pellets and it is the part that cannot be used to make paper, cardboard, furniture, doors, floors, packaging, etc.

Only 35% of the wood that grows each year in our forests is extracted, thus guaranteeing the renewal, persistence and growth of the forests. In the EU with denser forests, 65% of the wood that grows is cut down each year.

USE PELLETS TO FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

The main and greatest cause of Climate Change is the consumption of fossil fuels: natural gas, diesel or coal. Because they emit “captured” Greenhouse Gases into the atmosphere millions of years ago.

If instead of using fossil fuels, we use pellets, the emissions from combustion are considered neutral. The CO2 that is emitted during its combustion is equivalent to that absorbed by the wood that grows in the forests where it comes from.

USING PELLETS GUARANTEES A LIVER RURAL SOCIETY

Because it is a local and own production, using pellets in Spain generates 13 times more employment than using fossil fuels from countries through multinationals.

Using pellets saves a third of the cost in heating on average and its price is much more stable than that of electricity or fossil fuels that depend on international markets and the importation of gas and oil by sea.
